July 13, 2023
On Monday 24 July and throughout July, the Samaritans will be running its annual awareness-raising campaign, Talk to Us. The campaign aims to let people know that Samaritans volunteers are here 24/7 for anyone who is struggling to cope – day or night, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Anyone can suddenly find themselves in crisis – it’s easier than you think.
It’s really important not to judge people. Most of us could quite easily find ourselves in a crisis at some point. Not everybody who contacts the Samaritans is feeling actively suicidal: many are struggling with their mental health and are often without adequate support. Many are physically unwell or in pain; some callers are worried about their finances, benefits, or housing, some are struggling with difficult relationships, domestic violence etc.
Other callers may be incredibly lonely and have nobody in their lives whom they could have a meaningful conversation with.
Pivotal will be showing our support and raising awareness on social media by marking Samaritans Awareness Day on Monday 24 July.
How can you help?
If you’d like to get involved, you can help raise awareness this month by sharing Samaritans’ messaging on your own social media pages using #TalkToUs and #SamaritansAwarenessDay to help to raise awareness that Samaritans are here 24/7 for anyone who is struggling to cope.
